ANNIE RIDD
2005 BA Hons Fine Art, Surrey Institute of Art & Design
The content and form of my work has varied throughout my course, but
a continuing strand has been identity. My practise has been exploring
motherhood, childhood, anxiety, fear and the vulnerability of life.
I have worked primarily with clothing and belongings of those absent,
hair, insects and, more recently, bees. I found the subject of bees
in the context of my work enthralling. In contrast to using insects
to relate to notions of fear, phobias and revulsion, I used honeybees
to invoke images of sweetness, virtue and productivity.
